"Feeling is the consciousness of the resulting conditions – of b2ap3_thumbnail_Equilibrium_20150424-152338_1.jpgsuccess, failure, equilibrium, compromise or balance, in this continuous rivalry of ideas." – James Mark Baldwin

The need for balance is a necessity for our spirit and overall well-being. Without our physical and mental equilibrium, a chaotic mindset ensues. It’s imperative to find or create a place to channel our inner balance and symmetry so that we’re able to gracefully handle diversions and the overwhelming responsibilities of life.

This painting produces the shades of serenity drifting in from a treacherous voyage eager to discover a parallel spirit to envelop.  The calmness of the marinating swells in this aquatic image is a peaceful reminder that there are many ways to seek balance in our lives.

"Enthusiasm is the yeast that makes your hopes shine to the b2ap3_thumbnail_Surge-retouched_20150424-025811_1.jpgstars. Enthusiasm is the sparkle in your eyes, the swing in your gait. The grip of your hand, the irresistible surge of will and energy to execute your ideas." - Henry Ford

Have you ever been “in the zone”, so inspired that nothing could draw you away from your task?  This surge of energy streaming through your soul and the feeling of empowerment to finally release your vision is just what you needed to launch your intentions, your awareness and your purpose.

This painting Surge is like a wave of energetic brilliance flowing beneath your skin, making your heart beat just a bit quicker, releasing excitement for a voyage unseen--a vision beyond your comprehension. "Life is like a landscape. You live in the midst of it but can b2ap3_thumbnail_Distance_20150424-024735_1.JPGdescribe it only from the vantage point of distance." – Charles Lindbergh

Try to imagine viewing your own life—your disposition, experiences, and accomplishments—as an outsider. What would you see? Would you see a genuinely happy, well-rounded person? Or would you see the need for improvement?

The painting Distance is a reminder of how far we’ve come through the events of life. The muddled portions of color in this painting are like footsteps through the rough terrain. It might seem bleak when you’re in the moment but once you take a step back and see how far you’ve come, you start to notice the lighted path of perseverance.

Never cease to move forward but always remember to take a step back once in awhile and observe your life from a distance. You might learn a thing or two about yourself from a diverse perspective.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Origin_20150424-022557_1.jpg

"Fantasy, abandoned by reason, produces impossible monsters; united with it, she is the mother of the arts and the origin of marvels." – Francisco de Goya

Sometimes there’s no logic in art. There’s only the illusion of something greater.  Art is expression; a fantastical world in which an artist’s mind travels.  Occasionally, there aren’t enough colors in the spectrum to convey what an artist envisions.  Art is a feeling; an energetic vibration of an altered life.

The virtual movement in this painting merges energy with fantasy.  The intensity of the contrast in colors and progression illustrates the origin of abstract art.

I started painting in 2005. The journey and evolvement has enriched my soul immensely.  I paint with appreciation for life—the past, present and future.  My heart is overwhelmed with gratefulness to everyone who shares in my passion. Going forward into the upcoming year, I will continue to create, inspire and affect those around me with heightened marvels of color and energy.

"Every generation welcomes the pirates from the last." – b2ap3_thumbnail_Pirate_20150424-021540_1.jpgLawrence Lessig, Free Culture: The Nature and Future of Creativity

It’s fun to play “pirates”, dressing up and fighting with plastic swords.  Pirates are the ultimate rebels, the misfits of the sea…!  If you seek adventure beyond your comfort zone, you’re a pirate.

Pirates are treasure-seekers by nature.  Each of us has treasure buried deep inside our souls. This treasure can be jewels of knowledge, creativity, or an undiscovered passion.

This painting emerged as a cavern of buried treasure.  My intention was to invoke the pirate in each of us to search for the hidden treasure of your soul.

I challenge you to awaken your inner pirate to hunt for your soul’s buried treasure.

"Don't ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what b2ap3_thumbnail_Ignition_20150423-021708_1.jpgmakes you come ALIVE. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who are ALIVE." - Howard Thurman

Passion is what creates greatness. Everyone has the potential for greatness but not everyone has the will or strength to be great. Being truly alive ignites passion. You must become a product of your destiny--build it from the ground up and then set it on fire with passion and perseverance.

This painting is called Ignition because the fiery red colors shoot through the center, igniting zeal into the bleakness of the mundane grays in the background such as life's routine.

Search for your ignition to light a fire into your soul and give your passion greatness!

"Write it. Shoot it. Publish it. Crochet it, saute it, whatever. b2ap3_thumbnail_Surprise_20150423-020945_1.JPGMAKE." - Joss Whedon

I love the simplicity yet direct words in this quote.  Often times we procrastinate in waiting for the right time to do something.  Waiting for the season to pass, waiting for more money to be generated, or waiting for inspiration to come.  Maybe we’re waiting for life to just slow down.  Sometimes we need to make the time and do it.  Start writing that book you’ve been talking about, print and frame those beautiful photographs, start cooking your favorite recipes, plant that herb garden, learn how to paint or crochet, take a class and see where it takes you.  Surprise yourself!

The colors in this painting are like rainbows. A rainbow symbolizes creation and life.  Stop procrastinating and start creating!  Give life to your passions.  You’ll find that once you make the time and follow through, you’ll feel rejuvenated.

b2ap3_thumbnail_Passage_20150423-012808_1.jpg

"The world today doesn’t make sense, so why should I paint pictures that do?" - Pablo Picasso

The above quote is amusing and true.  I could say the same thing.  I leave it up the viewer to decide what makes sense in my paintings according to their world view.  I like to create an atmosphere through my paintings in which the viewer can determine the origin and destination.

This painting Passage appears to have layers leading to a destination of energy and happiness in this nonsensical world.  The yellow produces joy and flows through like a geyser, saturating the calmness of the other colors, bringing the sense back into the painting.

Create your passage by designing your happiness to flow through the parts of your life that make no sense.

“Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful.” – John Meada

Making the decision to simplify our lives is the first cornerstone to actually starting the process. It is definitely a process and not something that we expect to complete as a task in one day. Creating a complicated, even stressful life took probably years to build.  But there is hope. If simplicity is what you desire that is half the battle. It is important to note that in a frenetic state of mind our concentration suffers. We are running around making mistakes, wasting energy and not really thinking clearly. Slowing down your thoughts and actions or simplifying is actually more productive because you will regain composure and be able to prioritize what needs to be done first. When we take time to breathe it replenishes our thoughts, reduces stress, and we see the big picture more clearly. As a result we get more accomplished in less time. If you make the decision to simplify, and commit to it, incredible things will happen.

“Spring work is going on with joyful enthusiasm.”
-John Muir
Springtime is here once again, the time for renewal and re-growth. This painting has a botanical quality to it that is reminiscent of the re-growth of spring flowers. Is it time to re-grow or renew your life? Sometimes we think our lives happen to us. This may not be the case. Our life is a series of conscious choices every moment of every day. What we are and our life situation is a direct result of those choices. Reinventing our lives comes when we are able to make the choices that will bring us toward the focus of our desires, day by day, moment by moment. Let the glory of spring in nature and its spiritual meaning be your inspiration for creating new choices or habits in your daily life. The possibilities are endless of what you can do when you can create change by your own choices.
