“We have two types of responses to color and one is biological.” – Leslie Harrington
Blue is an overwhelming “favorite color.” Blue is seen as trustworthy, dependable, and committed. The color of ocean and sky, blue is perceived as a constant in our lives. As the collective color of the spirit, it invokes rest and has been scientifically proven to cause the body to produce chemicals that calm, lower heart rate and blood pressure. People are more productive in blue rooms because it is ideal for concentration. However, not all blues are serene and sedate.
Electric or brilliant blues become dynamic and dramatic — an engaging color that expresses exhilaration.
Indigo, a deeper blue, symbolizes wisdom and spiritual realization. While blue is the color of communication with others, indigo turns the blue inward to increase personal thought and profound insights. Blue happens to be a hue I love to work with perhaps as a result of its wonderful qualities. My affinity for blue has always been part of my journey as an artist.
“If you see a tree as blue, then make it blue.” — Paul Gauguin
